Hi karen, Would you like to introduce yourself?
Hi, i’m Karen from Sheffield. I’, 47, a mum of two children at 12 and 16 and full time university professor and active amateur musician.
Why did you reach out to work with CMP, what were your initial goals?
Ever since having children I have found it difficult to keep fit and at a healthy weight. I had previously lost a lot of weight on a different programme but wasn’t able to keep it off, despite running several times a week. I’d also had a tough time with a difficult work situation which caused problems with my heart and my self-esteem was at an all-time low. I wanted to lose weight, tone up, learn to manage my eating in a sustainable way, and essentially lay the foundations for a healthy transition through and beyond the menopause
What were the motivating factors in wanting to achieve these goals?
I think I was at a point in my life where I didn’t enjoy going out as I didn’t like how I looked in clothes. I didn’t like summer because it meant not being able to wear clothes that would cover me up, and it was stopping me from enjoying time on the beach with my family or doing anything where i felt visible.
In hindsight I don’t think I ever looked as bad as I thought, but because I’d had a tough time I was being really hard on myself. In the back of my mind I was also aware that the menopause was on the horizon and I wanted to get ahead of it as best as I could.
In all honesty it took a lot for me to sign up as it felt quite indulgent to spend the money on myself, but my lovely husband and family were really supportive from the start so i was determined to achieve my goals and had seen all of the results from CMP in the past, which motivated me to do the same.
Can you tell us about the results that you’ve achieved with us?
So far I’ve lost 15kg, I’ve dropped nearly 3 dress sizes and I’ve toned up everywhere. I’m going workouts in a gym that i never thought i would and I look younger from being fitter and eating healthier!
This process has made it easy for me to understand where i was going wrong in the past and has allowed me to achieve more than i initially expected, which has been great.
what impact have your results had on your day to day life?
I feel like a different person and I’m so proud of what I have achieved. I am more confident generally, and that is having a positive impact at work too - I’m more confident with public facing activities, willing to network and make new connections, and that has increased the quality of my work and its impact.
I don’t dread shopping for new clothes, and enjoy the experience now, and for the first time felt able to join some friends for a beach sauna and sea swim without being worried about how I looked - I would have found all kinds of excuses not to do that previously.
It’s a total transformation of body and mind!

I’ve learned I love weight training and interval running!
Learning about macros and enjoying food again has been a total revelation in how i now look at nutrition too!
What would you say to anyone thinking of joining cmp?
It’s an investment in yourself that you deserve and which will have positive ripple effects on all aspects of your life. Trust your trainer too. My CMP coach has been amazing from the outset, quickly working out my psychology and finding the right ways to motivate me.
The team are lovely, they understand the juggle of busy lives and provide the support you need - you just have to ask. You won’t regret it, just give it your all and trust the process.
